[He just wanted to chat, mostly. It was a big thing coming to this revelation and it was mostly Ren who helped him out.]

I should be the one offering food or something.

I wouldn't be offering if I didn't want to make it.

[Ren is many things, but he is truthful about his words. He starts a pot of water boiling.]

Does this mean you're going to get us some takeout?

I just really wanted to thank you, that’s all. And tell you that I accepted that I like guys as well, so I’m willing to see where that goes from here on out. I told Souji and Kanji already, figured you’d be best to tell next.

[He was gonna let the others find out as it happened, but he felt that these three really deserved to hear it first rather than find out.]

[It is amusing when others bite back, after all. He is all smile as he begins to pour the water into the coffee pot to being pouring. Souji makes sense...Kanji he supposes because they are friends?]

Third in line after two close friends? That's quite an honor. [Curiosity got the better of him, however.] How did Souji take it?

[Should he be expecting an angry Kingpin for kissing Yosuke first?]

[He looked a bit confused at that question.]

The others’ll find out eventually. But there’s a reason for you three. Souji’s my best friend, I gave shit to Kanji for this stuff so I needed to apologize as well, and I already said why for you. [Mentioning Kanji didn’t exactly make him feel good even if it was a conversation sorely needed.] But why’re you asking about Souji? He’s fine with it. The guy’s always been pretty chill about this stuff.

[Good thing Ren can just play it cool because it's not like he also kissed Souji, don't be silly, that would be dumb. Super dumb.]

My own curiosity. [Not a lie.] It's true, he does seem pretty relaxed about everything. That's why he's your best friend and the team leader, right?

[Ren, no one's gonna punch you, it's fine.]

Mmm, something like that. [He placed his chin in his hand as he thought.] No one really wanted to be my friend and I don't really blame them, I'm kind of a pain in the ass sometimes. But he just sorta accepted me since day one.

[And pulled him out of a trash can.]

But we both agreed he'd be a good leader when we started the whole thing, he wasn't so much relaxed the whole time that he just seemed so unfazed. When he and I first went into the TV World, I was freakin' out. But not him. So it just made sense.

That makes two of us...well in the sense no one wanted to be my friend at the school at first apart from Ryuji.

[Crocked teachers and politicians spreading rumors will do that to you.]

Souji does seem like the type of guy who would do that. Being a calm leader, that is, and accept friends despite what others might say about them. I can't say I was completely calm when we ended up on the metaverse.

[Especially since they got captured and Ryuji was nearly killed in front of him.]

So, what are you going to do with your newfound freedom, Yosuke?

[he grinned because he could definitely see it. ryuji really seemed like that kinda guy.]

Man, I don't even know how he was like that with Chie and I being so terrified the whole time. Of course, then he says he might be dying when Teddie bit his hand. So, whatever. [He waved his hand with a laugh. He paused at the question though. He wasn't so sure it was some newfound freedom but... well, he could see why Ren would put it like that. He gave a shrug.] I dunno. Not like I'm gonna suddenly go lookin' for guys to hook up with, I barely do that with girls at this point.

Just gonna see what happens if and when it happens, I guess? Oh! That reminds me.

[He reached over to grab his bag, digging inside momentarily. Soon, a very well made, knitted and stitched plush toy was placed on the table. A small crinkle of plastic and a bag of homemade snacks was placed next to him and a note, all of which came from Kanji. It was a very close replica of Mona.]

I asked Kanji to make this for you, although it was his idea to add the snacks and the note. I didn't read it so I dunno what it says since it's for you. I didn't know when your birthday was so I guess it's more of a thank you gift than a birthday gift at this rate.

It didn't help there are fake rumors about me that had been spread by a teacher...

[Good thing Ryuji was Ryuji, he was glad to have his friend. He very dramatically clicks his tongue with the same grin as before.] Really? That's too bad.

[Oh? Ren watches him after he was apparently reminded of something and...

Yosuke says a few words after that, but Ren's not really listening at the point, his eyes staring in surprise at the Morgana. If there ever was a vulnerable state to see him in, this was probably it. Shoulder slightly slumped he pokes at the toy and the little yellow collar that Kanji has made for it.

He reads the note in silence, briefly smiling at the message, considering what had happened when both he and Naoto had been dragons.

It takes a while before he speaks again.]

Thank you.

[Ren, did you really think he would just start hooking up with dudes. C'mon.

But Yosuke watches his face as he takes in the cat. He keeps silent until Ren speaks and nods at the thank you. He was seriously wondering for a second there if he'd really made a bad move with that.]

I know it's... not the same. But I thought it might help a little. I get it, so.

[Not that he wants a plush version of Teddie, mascot suit or not. But still. He understood.]

[A small smile creeps on his face. It's a lot less laced with Ren's usual playful tone. He looks unusually grateful, serene. He doesn't get that many presents, after all.]

It's amazing and super adorable. Thank you again, Yosuke.

[Of course because it's Ren it doesn't last long.]

If I had known kissing you would have gotten me a Morgana plush, I would have done it earlier.

You just had to ruin it. That's it, give it back, you don't deserve it anymore.

[He made to reach for it as it to take it, but it was halfhearted and he was laughing all the while. Like he would really take back a gift that both Kanji and himself put together.]

No take backs. I'd just steal it back anyway.

[He gives the plush a little pat on the head before they continue. Where were they? Oh right, he was finishing preparing coffee. He returns a few minutes later with two cups and places one in front of him along with the snacks Kanji made. Ren did like to share when he had that type of present.]

Well if you ever end up hooking with a good guy, let me know...I might give him a call too.

[Okay, now he's just teasing. Again.]

[ He takes the cup of coffee, curling his hands around the warm cup for a moment. He'll let it cool a little so he takes a bite of the snacks instead.]

No, if I saw you as a brother we'd be having a different conversation right now. But you're right, maybe I should call you Yosuke-senpai from now on.

[Then he just smiles.]

I said 'if you ever'. If you meet a good girl, I wouldn't mind making a call too.

[Wow.]

Pretty sure we're past senpai and all that.

[ A small sip of the coffee and snorts a little, not hard enough to spill the coffee but enough that he needs to take a proper swallow before he speaks again. ]

You're not making a call to whoever it is I end up dating.

Ha ha, I guess so.

[It's Ren's turn to laugh as he gently moves around the coffee in his cup.]

Well, since you asked so nicely.

[There's no punchline this time. Ren knows when to stop teasing.]
