[ She recognizes defeat when she sees it. She hadn't intended this to be a fight, but she won't apologize. She hasn't said or done anything wrong.
Still, she sighs, not that he can see or hear it and give her apron strings a tug. She can't cook anymore. not like this. Those unpleasant emotions will seep into the food. She was on the very last batch, at least, so she doesn't think they did, but... she doesn't like that rejection, that push, shove. She knows he doesn't mean it, but in that split second, it's hard not to take it personally.
That's why she takes a moment to reply. ]
I'll be headed up in five. Try to cheer up, okay? This isn't a punishment, Yo-chan.
[ It doesn't take her long to pack up a Cordis sized portion for a growing teenager into a certain tote. Figuring out what to wear takes longer, but she settles on -- well, nothing special. She's not leaving the building, doesn't particularly want to be recognized by any of their neighbors, so she opts for that monstrous black hoodie she'd gotten as a quick see-me-through after the damned feline traits had manifested the first time and pulls the strings tight to conceal her ears, try to keep the scent to herself.
The thing practically swallows her up and conceals her form, so it should do. Tells Lightning she's stepping out for a moment to make a drop for a hungry friend a few doors down, and she's off at a speed befitting a person of her heritage. She's fast. Doesn't want to linger in the halls or draw attention if she can help it.
She does think to knock at least once before she opens Yosuke's door, at least, and slips inside quickly, quietly. ]
Yo-chan, I'm here!
[ She calls, turning the lock behind her soundly. She won't stay long. Doesn't think she can, not with how the pheromones affected her household, but maybe just a moment will be okay.
[ His pheromones aren't nearly as strong as hers, but they do give off the scent of autumn. As told by a friend he will meet not too long after this. Scents such as pumpkin pie, a crisp evening breeze by a river, or rain in a forest.
Yosuke himself is burrowed in his bed, the only thing peeking out is his large, bushy tail and oversized ears. It was a little cold in his apartment and he was warm. ]
Okay. You can just... leave it on the counter or something.
[ "Or something." She's about to say something about that when her eyes catch those oversized ears and that large, bushy tail and her fingers twitch. She'll be putting the food on the counter, alright, and quickly, quietly heading for his bedroom.
Is it the best idea? Probably not with how strong her pheromones are. She smells sweet in a way she herself hasn't yet placed, that she doesn't particularly want to, but just a moment should be fine. It isn't like she herself is lacking in restraint, after all. She can handle him, whatever happens, and it's with that knowledge that she'll be leaning to reach for those ears of his with a grabby pair of hands and a near sing-song little -- ]
His ears perk at that sing-song voice that sounds far too close and he stiffens because what is Setsu-nee doing-! ]
Gah!
[ Not even the sweet smell wafting from his big sister is enough to distract him from the hands on his ears. What the hell? ]
S-Setsu-nee, what're you doing?! I thought you were gonna be in 'n out?
[ He presses the blanket closer to his nose to muffle the pheromones that do nothing except make him want to cling to her and he curls up further. But then, even with the rustling, another sound could be heard.
Yosuke was purring. His blushed to his... well, he would blush to his ears if he still had his human ears. Instead, his face goes cherry red because he can feel the damn vibrations in his chest and ugh, how embarrassing! ]
And leave these big, beautiful ears of yours lonely?
[ Scritchscritchscritchscritchscritch! Her voice takes on that sing-song quality again. ]
Not a chance in any of the hells across the dimensions!
[ And she's not gonna give, not until the sound of that purring registers in her ears. Then, she drops her eyes to his face and that grin of hers tugs wider. She starts up in earnest again and mercilessly. ]
[ She's way stronger than him so tugging the blanket up does nothing to dislodge her hands. He wiggles about in the bed, blanket practically tangling around his legs and tail as he has to fight himself from leaning further into her hands and trying to get away.
He fails miserably. It's not a particularly sensitive spot like the base of his tail is so thankfully, there are no accidental boners to be had. No, it feels pleasurable in a different way and by the time he gives up completely, he's purring so loud it's a wonder no one else can hear him and his head is leaning heavily into her hands. ]
[ Really, really fake by her reckoning and she almost, almost settles into this. She could. Sit right here and curl up beside him and content herself just playing with his ears a bit, see how loud she could make him purr, how much, which way she could get him to lean, press against her hands. And that tail, she glances after it. ]
I should get going. [ She sighs. ] And you need to eat, too.
[ She'll retract her hands just a smidge with that. She wants to see if he'll lean, how far. ]
[ It's a grumble with no real heat behind it. And he hates that he does, indeed, follow her hands when she retracts her hands a little. ]
You should and I need to. Too bad you're stopping me from going anywhere.
[ Technically, he probably could just get up and go but... the purring intensifies as he wants more pets! God dammit! Why did he have to go back to Cordis? Dragon was so cool! ]
[ She puts the question forward despite that there's no real heat behind his words, something distinctly liquid about her tone. Her left ear twitches slightly beneath her hood, but that's about the only indication she might have some sort of legitimate thought about his statement. She presses her fingers just slightly forward with that and presses a gentle rub in turn before pressing that discipline of hers and drawing herself up, away. ]
Up, then, or I'm coming for that tail.
[ She's heading out of the room already, pausing in the doorway to make sure he gets up. Don't try her, Yosuke. ]
[ He's just turning into a five year old, don't mind him, Setsura. His tail practically curls around him when she threatens to go for it because that really would spell disaster for him. His ears are flat now, mostly in disappointment over no more pets and the purring has stopped.
Meanie. ]
F-Fine, fine, I'm up.
[ He untangles the sheets from around his legs and slides out of his bed, taking a moment to stretch and sigh. ]
You smell like candy or fruit or something. It's really sweet.
[ It's actually the reason that, aside from still kind of wanting to go in for a hug and having to work the willpower to refrain, he wasn't actually aroused by it. It was too sweet. ]
[ She'd been hoping that oversized hoodie would contain it at least a little for a little while for all that it's a large, form swallowing monster and long enough, almost, to conceal her shorts. No wonder Kureno jetted out the door. She'll have to be careful going back, but... hm. ]
Was it that strong when I came in or did it get stronger while I was petting you?
[ She passes through the door to his room on her way to the door, intent upon putting a little distance between him and allowing him out. She's not going to sit down. If the hoodie isn't doing its job, she'll leave the scent on things she contacts.
Damned Cordis. She'll need a shower as soon as she gets in. ]
No, my nose is kind of always sensitive to strong scents. I mean, I got used to it working the perfume aisle all the time at Junes but...
[ He followed her into the main room with a shrug and rubbed the back of his head. ]
No, it stayed the same and I only smelled it when you walked into my room. You're not gonna get my horny or whatever if that's what you're worried about it.
[ Just saying that made him blush a little, but it was true. He had no urge to actually do anything to her or anything. Except hug her and he stopped himself by going to the bags of food she brought. ]
[ It's a small relief, but it's just that. Small. The ears, the tail were two -- one? They seem to have a mind of their own -- horrible thing. Those teeny, tiny fangs just barely peeking over her bottom lip are another. The pheromones? That's another level of frank fuckery that she's not sure how not navigate and it's messing with her mood. Is there a trigger? An off button? Yosuke's aren't hands she would break, at least, but that statement hits her stomach and makes it twist. ]
I don't trust the moons and you shouldn't either. Gods are fickle.
[ He’s changed moons twice now. The last thing he’s gonna do is trust the moons and the gods. Especially after Izanami.
He goes for the rice first, pulling out a pair of chopsticks and leaning against the counter as he digs into the sticky white rice. ]
But I’ve been Cordis enough times to realize there’s at least a certain pattern for me. The pheromones don’t do more than make me say stupid shit sometimes, otherwise I just wanna hug or something. So if you ever need a break, coming to my place is fine. I have a guest room too if you wanna be extra cautious.
[ Good, that's her first thought with his first utterance. She doesn't say it, fingertips resting against the door frame. She's settled in front of it, her back turned to the apartment proper. Her sense has her feeling, reading the signatures in the rooms around them, the hall, tracking their positions, movement. She should go, but that sees her pause. ]
The door isn’t that lovely a conversationalist, Sestu-nee.
[ He understood why she was doing that, but he was pretty sure he could keep his hands to himself and if she’s asking that then that means his pheromones were hardly registering with her. ]
Yeah, but it’s light. No one’s really commented much on it or did anything weird.
[ But she does turn. Leans her back against the door, folding her arms under her -- well, her chest is probably somewhere beneath that monstrous hoodie. It's not exactly small, but she isn't thinking about that or trying to draw attention to that fact. No, she's thinking about Cordis and its traits and all of this mess. It's always messy, messy gods. ]
I don't know how you stand it. Is there an off switch or something? If I tug my left ear twice, can I decrease the strength of it?
[ Yosuke only makes a "har-har-har" look on his face, eyes rolling lightly as he eats more of the rice. ]
If I'm not working, I'm at home. McDenny's is popular with Cordis so it can be tough but distracting myself with serving and all that helps, I guess? It's not foolproof but [ Shrug. ] Not much you can do.
It's not even that I can stand it, I just... I dunno, just try to make do and deal if I have to. I don't wanna lock myself up, though. It gets lonely.
[ That's all she has to say about that last bit because she's isolating herself for the moment, confining herself to the apartment and the complex, particularly the roof if she gets particularly restless, and she will. The ears and the tail, they were one thing. Those teeny, tiny fangs, another. Pheromones on top of that? She's got choice words for Cordis. She's not really sure how to navigate this for herself or her household and the effect the pheromones have had thus far on top of certain other factors and considerations... she waves a hand. ]
I like the sound of the ear thing. The gods here need a proper box for their complaints.
Their people celebrate and exalt them. If it's always been that way, what reason would they have to think we would think any differently about them and their 'blessings'? [ Unless they're told in no uncertain terms, and directly. ] And that's assuming they have the sense to pause, that they know what compassion is, that they'd feel it toward mortals or people from other worlds.
[ She speaks like someone who's thought too much on the topic, with so much experience with gods and beings distinctly 'other' than human. Like someone who's holding back a wealth of thoughts about it, really, and she is. She's paused. Lifts a hand smoothly, waves it almost dismissively. Turns the subject. ]
That’s something to take up with them, I dunno what they’re thinking really. Can’t even really tell if we’re just being played too.
[ He did question how they had customs for moonlacing when they couldn’t do it themselves, after all. Jury is still out on that one too. ]
Duh, like I’d be dumb enough to keep your stuff, Setsu-nee. I’ll do the dishes tonight and try to get them back to you tomorrow. Or after Cordis, whichever you want.
